- Denmark will ease COVID-19 restrictions despite rising cases. The country will no longer consider COVID-19 as a societal threat and will lift restrictions starting next week.
- Hundreds protested mandatory COVID-19 vaccination in Nuremberg, Germany.
- Stockholm joined European cities in protests against COVID-19 restrictions. Approximately 3,000 people gathered in the streets to protest against vaccine passes. The protesters demanded a “free Sweden” in response to new laws requiring vaccine passes for indoor gatherings.
- Spotify removed Neil Young’s music after he called for the removal of his songs from the platform. He did so in protest against Joe Rogan’s podcast, which he accused of spreading misinformation about vaccines.
- Over 10 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered worldwide. The world population is 7.9 billion.
- Pfizer and BioNTech are studying a COVID-19 vaccine targeting the omicron variant.
- Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has been nominated for a second term as Director General of WHO. He is the only candidate in the running, and the election will take place in May 2022
